Organic synthesis reaction
In the oxidation reaction of alcohols, copper oxide can oxidize primary alcohols to aldehydes and secondary alcohols to ketones. For example, when preparing benzaldehyde in the laboratory, copper oxide can be used as a catalyst to efficiently convert benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde under relatively mild conditions. In some hydrogenation reactions, the composite catalyst composed of copper oxide and other metals can effectively catalyze the hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds, such as the hydrogenation of olefin to alkanes.
